As a member of the Caltrans Director's Office of Equity and Tribal Affairs (ETA), under the direction of the Senior Advisor, Race and Equity, a Supervising Transportation Planner, the Staff Services Manager I (Specialist) serves as a non-supervisory staff specialist and is responsible for administering the inter-agency Equity Advisory Committee (EAC) in partnership with counterparts from the California Transportation Commission (CTC) and California Transportation Agency (CalSTA). The EAC functions to elevate diverse and historically marginalized voices to advise our agencies on how to achieve meaningful outcomes in transportation equity, environmental justice, and equitable economic opportunities. This position will also lead and facilitate regular meetings with District staff to provide technical assistance and guidance; conduct best practice research; develop and review materials and policies to support the development of District and/or project level equity/community advisory committees and strengthen community engagement practices. This position requires strong project management and facilitation skills, and community engagement experience.

Position located at 1120 N Street, Sacramento , Sacramento County.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

While at their base of operation, employee will be required to work in a climate-controlled office, under artificial light and potentially fluctuating building temperature. Incumbent will be expected to work in office as well as by telework. In state travel will be required to attend Equity Advisory Committee meetings and other meetings with the districts and/or external partners. Out-of-State travel may be occasionally necessary. The environment requires considerable flexibility in managing time, priorities, and assignments.
