Job Title: Histotechnologist
Shift: 2nd Shift (12:30 PM - 9:00 PM or 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
Salary: $22–$34 per hour, depending on experience and/or certification
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Histotechnologist to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in preparing and processing tissue specimens for microscopic examination by pathologists. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
A Typical Day:
A typical day involves rotations between cutting, embedding, special stains, and IHC. To add variety and prevent burnout, all of our histotechnologists are cross trained in these areas. Some techs are also trained in grossing for biopsies and working in our frozen section suite, with opportunities to rotate or fill in as needed.
Lab Type:
Our laboratory functions as a hospital lab, outreach lab, and research lab for histology and cytology. We are recognized for our enormous IHC menu and our role as a nationwide leader in rare cancers and personalized medicine.
Career Ladder:
We have developed a unique career ladder for Anatomic Pathology (AP), designed collaboratively by our techs and lab assistants. Over the past year, three of our lab technical assistants successfully passed the HTL exam with the support and tutoring provided by our histotechs. Our atmosphere is cooperative and friendly, fostering both professional growth and collaboration.
