Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.
Overview The Chief of Staff, People will work closely with the Head of People with a focus on streamlining strategic initiatives, overseeing program management and communicating objectives department-wide. The ideal candidate will have proven success in a human resources function, with a special focus on executive-level advising and interdepartmental collaboration. This position is located onsite in Santa Cruz, California. This role is not eligible for remote work.
Responsibilities - Drive key business initiatives by organizing plans, timelines, and deliverables
- Program manage multiple initiatives from conception to delivery
- Produce executive level presentations to enhance and expedite decision making and strategic alignment
- Maintain and evolve People-related metrics that help the team track progress, align priorities, and support company-wide objectives.
- Help evaluate risks, refine proposals, and provide input on strategic trade-offs
Required - Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
- At least 8 years of professional experience in a relevant field
- Ability to influence across the organization; ability to mobilize key internal and external stakeholders and engage both colleagues and senior leadership
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to create presentations for an executive audience
- Demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking skills; ability to translate strategy to a tactical, executable level, including development of excel based financial models
- Experience leading multiple projects concurrently, demonstrating a pragmatic approach and results orientation
- Ability to resolve escalated issues and problems quickly, efficiently, and independently
- Experience providing counsel and management support to a high-level executive, overseeing commitments, and ensuring priorities are strategically managed and executed in a dynamic environment
- Experience applying sound judgment and business acumen in communication and experience navigating confidential and sensitive situations at all organizational levels
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills
- Versatile abilities and extreme dedication to efficient productivity
Desired - Advanced degree in business or related field (e.g., MBA, Master's in Human Resources, Organizational Development, and similar)
- Management consulting experience
- Experience in complex project development
- Experience with change management principles and methodologies.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, or technology organization
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Asana, Jira) and HRIS platforms
Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $131,700 - $201,900 annually. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
